October brings the vibrant red and orange leaves, Parisian toes disappear into boots and necks are wrapped up in cashmere scarves. Paris has a lot to offer during this Autumn month so I have picked out a few stand out events that might interest you during your stay in Paris.
Nuit Blanche –
Saturday October 5th to Sunday October 6th
Nuit Blanche means ‘white night’ literally
translated, but is slang for an ‘all-nighter’. And so that is what Parisian
will be doing on the night of October 5th; an all night art festival
that brings together contemporary artists from across five continents for one
night only.
You can take a stroll along the banks of the Seine, through the
Marais, République and Belleville districts, or along the Canal Saint-Martin to
see the many contemporary art exhibitions and installations that are open to
the public free of charge.
Fujiko Nakaya will be
cloaking the Place de la République in her trademark fog sculptures, while
Palle Nielsen transforms the Place de la Bataille de Stalingrad into a
monumental playground.
Hassan Khan, pioneer
of electronic music in Egypt, will be unveiling a brand new sound and light
installation in the Parc de Belleville, while all along the banks of the Seine
artists and DJs will combine to transform the quaysides into an open-air
superclub.
Photo Quai – September
17th to November 17th
An
exhibition you mustn’t miss if you stay in Paris during this period is the
photography exhibition ‘Photo Quai’.
Walking
along the Seine is never an unpleasant walk, especially with the Eiffel Tower
as the back drop, but on the ‘Quai de Branly’ for 2 months you will find a temporary
exhibition of work from young photographers all around the world.
Access via the Musee de
Branly, on the walkway opposite.

Joyce Jonathan in concert
– Tuesday October 29th
If you like cheerful
folk-pop, you’ll enjoy French singer/songwriter ‘Joyce Jonathan’. Her sweet
voice and acoustic guitar strumming are an irresistible combination.
She is giving a concert at 'Le Trianon' in Paris for one night only and I have already got my tickets!
You can buy tickets here for 29€. It will only cost you 27€ if you a member of FNAC.

Tour Paris 13 – October 1st to October 31st
You may recognise this building in the 13th arrondissiment because of it's vibrant fluro orange 'slime' dripping down the sides. It is a 10 storey housing project marked for demolition and so in an effort to save this street artist's paradise, Mehdi Ben Cheikh, owner of a Parisian art gallery, launched this massive art project know as 'Tour 13'.
For one year, 100 international street artists came and left their mark with murals and installations within the 36 apartments of the building, making it the largest temporary street art exhibition in Europe.
