Les Voyages D'été

Over the Summer (l'été) I had the chance to travel around some parts of France and cross a few things off my bucketlist!

One of the places I visited was Mâcon, a village in the Burgundy region of France, and enjoyed an afternoon day tripping on a vintage motorbike around the vineyards and through the surrounding picturesque villages.

The incredible tiled roof of the 'Château de Pierreclos'

A great hiking destination in the summer

By comparison, here is a photo I took last winter of the 'Roche du Solutré'

The must try dish in Burgundy - Les Grenouilles

The Burgundy region of France is home to quite a few Michelin Starred chefs, and it is not as expensive as you might think to try out these 'chefs étoilés' once you outside of Paris. We made a reservation at 'Meulien Restaurant' with Chef Valéry Meulien, who has one Michelin Star.

For 46€ you can choose an entree, main meal and dessert, but this also includes 2 'amuses-bouches' and a 'pre-dessert' palate cleanser.
It was one of the best meals I have had to date, and a bargain price for the quality.

Reservations a few days in advance

We also spend a few days traveling around the 'Luberon-Provence' region of France, mainly to visit the beautiful lavender fields that 'envahie' the region from late June to mid August.

The best way to visit this region is by car, as it gives you the freedom to stop whenever you choose and visit all of the beautiful villages throughout the region.

Beautiful village of 'Gordes' sitting atop the cliffs
Gordes is known as one of the most beautiful villages in France, particularly for the fact that every building in Gordes is made of stacked stones. All new buildings must abide by this rule.

The village of 'Roussillon', famous for its ochre hues

When we weren't taking in the sights (and smells!) of lavender coloured fields, we were admiring the beautiful golden sunflower fields spotted throughout the region.

I am currently getting back into the work routine after a long two month break so a new post to come soon from the second part of my summer holiday to Barcelona!
A little teaser

Feel free to contact me for any suggestions on restaurants or sights in these areas!
